DCLXVI: To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth is the fourth album by the Swedish metal band Entombed, released in 1997. DCLXVI is 666 in Roman numerals. This album shows a continuation of the death 'n' roll sound previously established on 1993's "Wolverine Blues", but eschews most traces of hardcore and traditional death metal in favor of a stoner rock and garage rock influenced sound.

But Entombed themselves began to include more rock and punk music influences on their third album already, the legendary death 'n' roll platter 'Wolverine Blues'. It is very hard to get head around the fact, especially now, about 13 and a half years after its release, that 'To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth' is actually Entombed's fourth album. the wilderness period set in, a period in which some feel the band is still wandering, though I would argue in favor of Uprising marking a sharp ascent out of the morass that is this record and its even more abominable follow-up.

Following the towering Wolverine Blues, Entombed left Earache to sign with EastWest, where they recorded one album. It was never released and the band was unceremoniously dropped, leaving them to move to the indie Music for Nations, where they released To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth. The band may be battered and scarred, but they're not worn out, as this guitar-driven record proves. If anything, the turmoil has added depth to their music, making the best moments of To Ride cut deeper than before.
