Vapor Trails" is the seventeenth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on May 14, 2002, by Atlantic Records. Its total length is 67:15. The band's lineup includes vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer Neil Peart. Rush also released a remixed version of the album on September 30, 2013. This was mostly due to the band's dissatisfaction with the original mix that sounded too loud and many of the sounds were lost in the mix. I do prefer the remixed version, its production is far more polished and gives new life to the album. Rush's previous release "Test for Echo" was disjointed and lacked direction.
The excitement of a new Rush album in 2002-six years after 1996’s Test for Echo and its first since Neil Peart’s unfathomable family tragedies (the death of his teenage daughter and his wife within a year)-soon turned into the ultimate fan argument. The songs were the strongest in years, but the production and mastering was a mess-too digitally hot to handle, with a clipped sound that made listening an uncomfortable situation.
If people have one complaint about the original mix of Rush's 2002 comeback album Vapor Trails, it's often that the album has suffered from an exaggeratedly muddy and loud sound mix. The whole album sounds as if it's one big wall of sound. Even Rush outright admitted that the album sounded distorted and muddy. Of course, the material has been widely revered by fans as some of their best. The album came after a hiatus that lasted for a few years following Neil Peart's ultra-tragic year in 1998, when within ten months of each other, his daughter died in a fiery car accident,.

Redirected from Vapor Trails Remixed). Vapor Trails is the 17th studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, produced by Paul Northfield and released in May 2002. Its release marked the first studio album for the band since Test for Echo in 1996 (the longest gap between Rush albums until their retirement) because of personal tragedies that befell drummer Neil Peart in the late 1990s
In 2002, after a six-year layoff from the recording studio, Canadian prog rock heroes Rush returned with the album Vapor Trails, the group's first album of the new millennium, and a return to the business of making music after drummer Neil Peart struggled with the death of his wife and daughter. While the group's loyal fans embraced this new batch of songs, not everyone was happy with the way the album sounded - including the members of Rush.
