Make no mistake: while ‘GOOD DONT SLEEP’ has a deep affinity with psychedelia, it steers a thrillingly new path toward pop. This long-awaited debut demonstrates Egyptian Hip Hop’s astute awareness of what has come before yet is wholly of the non-linear now. The band recorded the album with producer Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Darkstar) in Leeds and at legendary Welsh studio Bryn Derwen, where they recall the sound of the wind blowing the trees winding its way into the record.

UK outfit Egyptian Hip Hop will release their first album, Good Don't Sleep, this October on R&S Records. Egyptian Hip Hop are a four-piece electronic pop group from Manchester that have been around since 2009. They put out two EPs in 2010, one of which (Some Reptiles Grew Wings) was produced by Warp Records artist Hudson Mohawke. Good Don't Sleep follows a two-year hiatus, during which frontman Alexander Hewett travelled as a touring artist for likeminded psychedelic pop act Connan Mockasin and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Egyptian Hip Hop has been played on NTS shows including Mosca, with Outro first played on 6 December 2017. Egyptian Hip Hop is Manchester, UK band formed in late 2008 by guitarist/vocalist Alex Hewett and Louis Stevenson-Miller (guitar). Recruiting their friends Nick Delap (bass) and Alex Pierce (drums). A debut album 'Good Don't Sleep' released on R&S records in October 31, 2012.
