I have this on CD and LP and have noticed differences. I can confirm that on the 3 x LP the versions are as follows:Ballistic Brothers - A Supreme Love. Is an edit of the original Album Version which is in 2 parts. Jordan-The Law. The Ballistic Bros Main mix on CD, on LP it's the Ballistic's After Hours mix from the same 12" single but 2 different versions. - The Bone. The Latin Power Dub on the LP, the Muted Horn Mix used on CD. MSC - Superstar Featuring – Ce Ce Rogers. One of the Blaze dubs from the original vinyl as it has no CeCe Rogers vocal in it. other track is as it is on the CDs.On the Mix CD, Ame Strong - Tout Est Bleu is the more boring Francois. K Dub. The FK Vocal is far superior in my opinion :-)Âme-Strong-Tout-Est-Bleu-François-K-Remix/release/52655I hope this is helpful for anyone who wants to track down specific versions of tracks.
This is THE compilation back in the daze when house music resided in plastic grooves, smoking was allowed in venues and one of the main reasons for going out was the music. There were certainly other reasons too...
When this album came out it had a big influence on me, being released right when the deep jazzy sounds in dance music had really matured & the selection these boys had brought together really displays this. A must for those that appreciate deep underground house & down tempo vibes with a real organic, classy flavor. On a side note, the version of Mato's-Drifting appears to be different to that on the vinyl release; perhaps a special extended edit ?
in waiting
Very beautifull varions selection... Yummee yummee !!!!!
The sleeve on the CD claims 'superb set the mood for those late night sessions'. Well, it need not be a late night to enjoy this selection as 'Happy Feeling' by Mateo y Matos will get you up and about anytime of the day. In fact, the first disc is my preferred of the two, tracks 4 through to 12 flowing nicely, the highlight being the Ron Trent produced 'African Blues-Word Sound Power' by Urban Sound Gallery-the tribal rhythms are intoxicating! The second disc is definately downtempo, but is lovely and reaches it's climax with 'Out of the Storm' by Incognito, a beautiful track that is at once relaxing yet engaging. Some of the mixes leave something to be desired, tracks being brought in but then rather ubruptly cut, but generally the boys of X-Press 2 seem to understand key-mixing and how to ride the pitch. All in all 4 out of 5 and probably the most satisfying of the Ministry of Sound compilations, alongside Late Night Sessions 3.
How many classic tunes on one album - Los Jugaderos 'What You Doing to This Girl?' (Ashley Beedle and Phil Asher in full effect), Persuasion 'The Bone', Gareth Cooke & Don Carlos 'Dynamix' the list goes on. As rare as rocking horse shit on both vinyl and CD now though!
