Always playful, Aerosmith decided to design their double live album, another ‘70s staple, in the spirit of a bootleg, by mislabeling the track listing, leaving off Draw the Line and sneaking it in at the end of the James Brown number, Mother Popcorn. Popcorn and I Ain’t Got You are taken from a Boston radio broadcast from March 1973, while the remainder of the album is culled from concerts in 1977 and 1978. The versions included here are fairly raw and refreshing from the usual over-perfected live albums that made it to market

Bootleg is a live album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released in 1978. While most of the performances were drawn from concerts in 1977 and 1978, the covers "I Ain't Got You" and "Mother Popcorn" were taken from a radio broadcast of a Boston performance on March 20, 1973. The design of the album is intended to ape the poor production values offered by contemporary bootleg records, even going so far as to give an incorrect track listing: the song "Draw the Line" is included on the record but does not appear listed. Since Aerosmith had become one of America's premier rock & roll concert attractions by 1978, it was only natural that an in-concert collection was issued that year, the double album, Live Bootleg. Unlike other live albums at the time, it's obvious that not a lot of overdubbing was involved to fix up the tracks, which results in a refreshingly authentic representation of Aerosmith at the group's most drugged-out and rocking. All of the performances were taken from Tyler and company's 1977-1978 .
