The majority of this album, coming at a time when trance and more mainstream house music were converging to create the short lived "dream house" phenomenon, consists of cover versions of film themes and blatant rip-offs of other artists (I recall an uncredited Vangelis remix but cannot confirm which title it was as I have long got rid of my copy of the cd). While it can be argued that certain merit can be found in remixes / covers of famous tunes, this album mostly takes the source material and transforms it into cringeworthy pastiches. For example, how anybody was expected to make dance versions of the X-Files & Mission Impossible themes without resulting in embarrassingly awful results is beyond me. Robert Miles' Dream House anthem "Children" stood as a strong tune because it was original and held no association with anything else. To put a similar piano and bassline with a TV theme is just ridiculous, and reputation threatening.DJ Dado may never have been held in as high regard as, say, Gigi D'Agostino when it came to good quality Dream House / Mediterranean Progressive but this album really showed how uninspired he was.The one redeeming factor (and the only reason I give this album 2 out of 5 instead of a solitary 1) is the track Floreal World. To my knowledge (and please correct me if I'm wrong), this is an original composition. Apart from sounding fresh, Floreal World is full of invention and melody that makes you wish DJ Dado had sat down for a while longer before releasing this shameless pisstake of an album.
DJ DADO Considered the father of the Dream Trance or Dream house genre, like Robert Miles. This album is a compilation of well known themes, with the dream trance/house approach. Metropolis, one of the singles that were released from the album, is a dream trance, cover of the FRITZ LANG film music score. A visionary film. The album is actually pretty good, considering that the songs contained are releases of other artists. It is a rare CD. A genre, that was fashionable for just a short time in the span of electronic music.
