Ammonia Avenue is the seventh studio album by the British progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released on 7 February 1984 by Arista Records. The Phil Spector-influenced "Don't Answer Me" was the album's lead single, and reached the Top 15 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, as well as the fourth position on the Adult Contemporary chart. The single also reached the Top 20 in several countries and represents the last big hit for the Alan Parsons Project.
Parsons own group, the Alan Parsons Project, as well as his subsequent solo recordings, have successful commercially. In October 1967, at the age of 19, Parsons went to work as an assistant engineer at Abbey Road Studios and he was known for doing more than what would normally be considered the scope of a recording engineers duties. Spanish fans started singing La Sagrada, Barcelona in the style of the track on the Gaudi album on the terraces of football stadiums. Closer to Heaven was used in an episode of Miami Vice. Limelight, Best of The Alan Parsons Project Volume 2 released. Freudiana album released – the last album Eric and Alan worked on together. The Freudiana musical was premiered in Vienna in Austria. It marked a new direction for Eric into musical theatre.
