Requiem is the seventh studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Bathory. It eschews the Viking metal style of Bathory's three previous releases for a thrash metal style that recalls many of the bands that initially influenced Bathory. This album marks the return of Bathory after Quorthon put the band on hold to record his first solo album. All tracks written by Quorthon. Quorthon – guitar, vocals. Kothaar – bass guitar. Requiem is an album released in 1994 by extreme metal band Bathory. Unlike the previous albums, with Requiem the band approaches the Thrash Metal style that had influenced the first albums. The production is good: the bass, rough and metallic, comes out more clearly from the whole and is the almost undisputed protagonist of the platter. The guitars are left almost in the background, and a great role is played by drums which, with the bass, give a fast rhythm to the songs. As for the lyrics, this album concentrates on three subjects: death, religion and sex.
