In the late seventies, Electric Light Orchestra was one of the biggest names in pop music and over 2 decades later the group is still growing strong with 2010 marking their 40th Anniversary. Following the departure of co-founder Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne went on to lead ELO on to become one of the biggest acts of the seventies and eighties, with over global 50 million records sold globally. This fantastic DVD compilation combines three live concerts from the beginning of the band's career. The first features four tracks from a performance at Brunel University in 1973
Electric Light Orchestra. Lynne was still a member of The Move, alongside Roy Wood and future ELO drummer Bev Bevan, when he wrote what became the very first ELO song, 10538 Overture. With Wood playing a cheap Chinese cello, multi- tracked by Lynne, it sounded to Wood like: a monster heavy metal orchestra. 10538 Overture soon became the new group’s mission statement, the opening fanfare on a debut album described by Melody Maker as a gas.
