Pressed by the WORST plant on the planet, Rain-BLOW, these pressings are shit. Full of crackling, terrible for a limited release. ANTI should be ashamed to put this crap on the market.
I know Rainbo pressings can suck, but are you sure this was pressed there? Please double check. Its matrices "87550-1 2017" don't look familiar to me. Rainbo's matrices typically start with a an etched, capital "S", then a hyphen, then a set of digits, etc.
How do these black vinyl versions sound? Any better than the RSD colored versions?
Black vinyl, excellent quite pressing and great sound, none of the problems here that are reported about color vinyl pressings!
My Brawlers LP is in blue too. What about the US version ?
These are the worst, noisiest releases I have ever paid good money for. Total crap. I expected better from Tom, who is uncompromising about protecting the quality and integrity of his music. Impurities galore in pretty, delicate and quiet songs. Distracting. All three RSD Orphans releases. A few of the sides are OK.

AGREED 100% with everything you say here. Such a shame.
Brawlers: NOISE .. Bawlers: NOISE.. Bastards: NOISE... Such a shame,.. We are talking about a major artist , doesn’t he have a say on who does the pressing of his work. If I was a Tom Waits, I would make sure that my art is respected by getting a decent pressing at a plant who cares about quality..PALLAS, QRP, OPTIMAL...what’s the point in revisiting the entire catalog if it’s going to be pressed poorly. Tom Waits' heart and soul deserves to be listened the way he wanted it to be.
Are all of these actually mispresses then .. ? :)
lets go baby
jkbrandt Are all of these actually mispresses then .. ? :) I would say so, yes. But it appears that all UK & Europe releases have switched colours.
As far as I can see, there no European pressing with the right colours. Does anyone have the colours as they should be?
Some European releases have been pressed on the wrong color vinyl, brawlers on blue and ballers on red vinyl. Should be vise versa. Also the grey bastards release is on plain grey vinyl instead of marbled grey.
i think al europe pressings have wrong colours. the pressing quality is verry good
Hi. My version is on blue vinyl. Bought in Denmark.
Hey guys! I accidentally bought two copies of "Brawlers" when I intended one of them to be "Bastards". Can anyone do a swap?
Like others have noted above, my UK bought copies of Bawlers / Brawlers have the vinyl switched in colour.I also have a further, more fundamental, oddity - the A-side of Bawlers is a pressing of some Sonic Youth tracks, the B-side flipping back to the intended recording. Not sure how widespread an issue this is - I know of another customer in the same shop as I bought mine has encountered the same mispressing.
A selection of tracks from Dirty:StalkerJCPurrCreme Brulee In that order...
Curious... What are the Sonic Youth tracks on the A-side?
The folks who have the wrong color pressings wouldn't happen to be outside the U.S. would they?
I am in the UK, maybe its a European / US pressing differences...
I bought the three albums today but I am very disappointed with the pressing. First of they made mistakes with choosing the color for each album. Bawlers comes in red vinyl and Brawlers in blue vinyl (look to the photo of this release, i took this photo and it is actually Bawlers). Basterds came in a plain grey color but not marble and translucent darker grey as in the photo's advertised before the release. Secondly and even more importent... the quality is very poor! Constantly cracking noise on all LP's. First I thought maybe it's a bit of the way Tom is singing but compared to digital sources the cracking is far to much. Who has the same problem? Tomorrow i am going to return my albums. I don't want my money back I just want these beautiful albums like it supposed to be.
I can recommend the black vinyl version. After reading here about the problems with color vinyl I got the black vinyl pressings. They are excellent, no issue at all.
Same problem with crackling on all 3. Very disappointed but I suppose not surprised. I'm finding so many issues with these colored/marble vinyls. More importantly, I'm finding them on Tom's new reissued LPs. Surprised Kathleen and him are allowing this type of quality for their music. And also, these LPs were expensive!
My copy of Brawlers came with blue vinyls (although they should be red). The same with Bawlers, which came with red vinyls (should be blue). Does anyone else have these versions?
Me too, and mine is the European Version. But the pressing is quite good.
Yeah, my Brawlers also came as blue. Was kinda surprised.
I bought all three. Mine were the correct color. ie. Brawlers record is red, Bawlers record is blue, and Bastards record is the marbled dark gray.
All 3 of mine are the right color. No idea how some ended up wrong like that.
The records play the "correct" songs and the labels on the vinyls are also "correct". It's just the wrong colour. The cover shows "Brawlers" in red colour, but the vinyl is in fact blue. The same pressing fault occurs with my "Bawlers" record, like i mentioned. I'm just happy they pressed the correct songs on each orphan :) Real nice editions too, with nice inners, eventhough they barely fit in the gatefold.
Yep got same as you - blue Brawlers and red Bawlers. Both play as per the labels. Mind you the stickers on the shrink showed the opposite colour. Not that fussed tho'
Does the red vinyl actually play Brawlers or is it in fact red and plays Bawlers? Might just be a label error at the plant.
From my three I bought today... Brawlers is blue Bawlers is redBastards is greyWhen I opened the packaging, the records were in sleeves, but not in the cover. Putting them inside is a real struggle, as the cover is too small. All three have the same problem. I have no idea why this stuff doesn't get sorted at the test pressing stage. I can see all the seems ungluing over the next few years.
My Brawlers is Red. I haven't checked the others yet.
