How to Dress Well is the stage name of Tom Krell, an American singer-songwriter and producer from Boulder, Colorado. His musical work has gained recognition under the tag of alternative R&B, although he has engaged with styles like ambient music and experimental electronic music since the beginning of his career. He began releasing music independently through his own blog around 2009, but began releasing on labels like Tri Angle, Lefse Records, Weird World and eventually Domino later on in his career.
On Love Remains, his How to Dress Well debut, they were pop and R&B acts like Ready For the World, Shai, Michael Jackson, and Bobby Brown. He's no less forthcoming about the inspirations behind his heartbreaking second LP, Total Loss. That album wasn't considered a drug record for the same reasons Ambien isn't considered recreational, but its shrouded production mimicked the effect the drug can have when it starts to kick in: the sensation of controlling yourself in an out-of-body experience. That feeling is foreign to Total Loss. It's still flooded with reverb, but the anesthetic is gone.
Ready for the World is the eponymous debut album from the Michigan-based band Ready for the World. It was self-produced by the band and released in September 17, 1985 by MCA. Of the nine songs appearing on the original album, a total of six were used as singles.

How To Dress Well's profile including the latest music, albums, songs, music videos and more updates. How to Dress Well is the stage name of the experimental pop producer and singer, and ethereal/R&B artist Tom Krell, 326 1,237.
How to Dress Well, Krell's psychic safety valve for his musical dreamscapes, played like a Ready for the World and '90s neo-soul homage in its infancy. His lo-fi lyrical poem "Ready for the World" flirted with "Love You Down's" melody before manifesting itself into his own composition, murky and poignant without the pretention of a tribute. Popularity in bloom, Krell wrote his first full-length album, Love Remains, with hints of and nods toward Jodeci and Keith Sweat's quiet storm tracks. Krell understood the internal nature of early-to-mid '90s R&B. Suicide Dream 2" toyed with spooky atmospherics, but the underlying melodies flooded the dreamscapes painted with slow, passionate strokes. Ghostly, his melodies resembled the tender nature of the finest slow jams.
Lefse just passed over this B-Side remix of How To Dress Well’s Ready For The World, which is a good 30 seconds shorter than the original. The Brooklyn/Köln whisperers usually sound pleasantly distant and reprocessed even when their work’s untouched. Here, Twin Sister abridge the cavernous, vocally rich first draft and stuff it to a pillow case for safe keeping. How To Dress Well – Ready For The World (Twin Sister Remix). The original: How To Dress Well – Ready For The World
On his fifth album, How To Dress Well - aka Tom Krell - rearranges his toolbox of future R&B sounds for an unsettled world. The album’s landscape is mapped out in the track listing, where phrases and ideas are sequenced, repeated and reprised: so Nonkilling 3 The Anteroom False Skull is followed by A Memory, The Spinning of a Body Nonkilling 2 – an multidimensional numerical cycle. The sonic approach is mostly abstract and fast-moving: each track skips between moods and ideas 4 or 5 times, recontextualising familiar sounds from R&B and electronica. Krell lamants that, There's still so much pain and anger, In your body fat ( Body Fat ) whilst describing the desolation of the world as, The earth is like a vacant boat. Throughout the record Krell’s clear vocals become warped, auto-tuned, and pushed to the peripheries.
