Redirected from Total (SebastiAn album)). Total is the debut studio album by French electronic artist SebastiAn. The album was released in Europe on 30 May 2011, and in North America on 7 June 2011 by Ed Banger Records. The album was announced in February with the release of an "X rated" teaser. This was followed with a video for the first single "Embody" directed by So Me featuring dancer Shamari Maurice, which was released on 4 April with remixes from DJ Premier and Kavinsky.
Sebastian produced the single Difficult for label-mate Uffie in 2010 on her debut album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans and provided a remix, titled "Difficult (2006 Parties Remix by SebastiAn)". He also had his experimental track "Threnody" released that year on an Ed Banger Records Christmas compilation. Later, his debut album Total was announced, followed by the release of a video for the title track featuring a series of violent and sexual images. A video for Sebastian's new song "Embody" was also released, along with the song's release as a single. The album Total itself was subsequently released on 30 May in Europe and 7 June in North America.

SebastiAn's sense of structure is essential to his debut being as consistently enjoyable as it is; compelling but not pretentious, distinctive but not affected, Total is a superb album fashionably disinterested in its own excellence. I return to those images of SebastiAn DJing in clubs grinning with a cigarette in his mouth, the perfect distillation of his aesthetic and approach. If you're after delicate shades of color, look elsewhere. Everybody else - the doors to this garishly lighted club are wide open.
SebastiAn’s album is incredibly hard to classify into one particular genre, known as the dark horse of the Ed Banger family, he has been waiting in the wings for what seems like ages, but now he’s ready to take the limelight – it has been a long in coming, but oh boy was it worth the wait. One of the finest tracks on the album. For every banger found on ‘Total,’ there is a counter to it; these come in the form of another fantastic funk electro gem that is ‘Arabest’ for us a track that for-fills Pedro’s dream of SebastiAn and Prince sharing a glass of Red wine in a smokey basement in Paris.
