adventure time
With a bit more perspective and knowledge Im coming back to review one of my favorite little albums. Sure enough, with a more critical ear I notice that there definitely are some pressing problems, at least on mine. Perhaps its a dirty record but I doubt its gotten like this after so few plays. Its the sort of strange pressing where the pops only reside where the music plays. On most records the music manages to drown it out, but here it just barely sticks through and is faintly audible during most tracks if you listen very intimately. Its not a deal breaker however. In contrast to the pressing I've come to find a new appreciation for the mastering. Going in I remembered it the other way around, with a good pressing and lame mastering. It really shines through with Macs clear voice and the striking strings. As crude and stylish as the jacket sleeve photos. Its just too bad there is no lyrics sheet for such a short album. In the end this revisit has mostly just brought me more appreciation for the first album I ever bought for myself and which always holds a special place in my collection and heart.Edit: It seems that with a few more plays the crackles have almost dissapeared. A good vacuum clean should get it silent so no pressing issues really. Amazing Album! 4 and a half stars!
I bought this today but got the slipmat that comes with the other edition too, but I live in France, so maybe we're special? Also, the store copy was on white vinyl (those they were selling were all black though). Don't know if that's some special deely for shops...
