Burking
We live in the age of enormous technical progress which brings to life lots of wonderful explorations that were not available decades ago. We can see first mechanical robot landing on Mars, we can witness space probes travelling between planets inside our planet system and even breaking out of it in search for information and new discoveries. There are already talks about creating human colonies on the Moon and Mars. What was the theme of science fiction books thirty and even twenty years ago now becomes reality around us, the dreams of distant worlds and possible expansion of humanoids out of Sun solar system. But still, there are many miles to walk and many seas to cross before we will be able to travel between stars in open space. It will take decades before anybody will be able to touch the extraterrestrial soil. And of course, it is sad to realize that you may not reach the days of true delights when the entire universe will be opened for human beings. But for those of us that desperately dream about wide territories and challenging space journeys, I would advise some special act that will definitely satisfy their hunger. Sphare Sechs is the exact project to take a trip with and today the light of distant galaxies fell down on their debut album 'Tiefschlaf'. Being a fruit of a collaboration between Martin Sturtzer (Phelios) and Christian Stritzel, this audio act was recorded live during a so-called "sleep-concert" (Teifschalf = deep sleep) which took place at Phobos Festival. While Sphare Sechts invites listener to experience a true vast space ambience created by galaxy itself and projected through the able hands of those two individuals, a spiral of time and space continuum captures my imagination throwing into the ultra slow free-fall between the stars. Sonic landscapes crafted by cosmic drones rise and fall in one uniform fountain of eternal life circle, where universes expand and collapse, black holes gravitation destroys entire star systems, global processes continue their infinite flow, and surprisingly all that happens without any human intervention, showing that natural processes will continue despite the economical crisis, political instability or people?s constant stupidity. As the support to this wonderful musical experience, Malignant records released a beautifully arranged visionary background for the "Phase II" track, and it is highly recommended in order to dive even deeper into the emotional trip (it can be easily obtained in HD quality via youtube). The cross-fade between the tracks is very smooth creating the whole picture without any sudden interruptions, keeping listener in constant drift until the very end. Bringing one solid structure for wide rooms and wide imagination, Sphare Sechs proves that there is still a lot to explore on the scene of deep ambient music and that there is enough space between such monsters like Steve Roach or Mathias Grassow and others for newer bands to warm up the hearts of certain individuals. Balancing on the edge of meditation and dream, 'Tiefschlaf' is one of my biggest discoveries of this year.
