Nit-picking here...but can anyone point me in the direction of a CD that has the *real* 12" remix on it? There seems to be a bit of a fake one making the rounds on most 80's comps, which sounds more like an extended 7".The true 12" mix from the vinyl at the 1:28 mark, where the "things are so bad everywhere" is sung, the word "everywhere" echoes, and those echo repeats replace the next line of the song (also the rhythm guitar placed higher in the mix here). Then in almost all of the first chorus, the bassline is absent and the rhythm guitar is still more of a feature. This is how I remember the 12" and would love to find it in master quality on CD.For reference, here's the REAL one, and the fake one. Ironically, the still shot of the video for the fake one is the vinyl label of the 12" that actually has the real one!
The Japanese CD single from '88 has the exact same tracks that are on the UK 12" single. It's hard to come by, but it sounds like it is precisely what you're looking for.
