Since the late '90s, onetime Meat Puppet leader Curt Kirkwood has been playing solo acoustic sets. But due to his work with a "new look" Meat Puppets, the all-star Eyes Adrift, and a project that was over almost as quickly as it began (Volcano), Kirkwood didn't have the opportunity to embrace the aforementioned style in the studio. That was, until Kirkwood's first ever solo release in 2005 - Snow.
Snow is the first solo album by Curt Kirkwood of the alternative rock band Meat Puppets, released in 2005. In his solo career, short though it was, he has pursued a more countrified aspect of his music. Golden Lies" was originally written as the title track for the previous Meat Puppets album, however, it was ironically excluded. The album was recorded in only 20 days. The album's title track was incorporated into the Meat Puppets' setlist upon their reunion tour in 2006.
Consisting of Curt Kirkwood at the helm with vocals and acoustic guitar, Snow is a stripped down effort featuring 10 songs of impressive guitar dynamics and imagery painted thick with Curt’s staple writing style. Since Curt had always been the one who wrote the bulk of Meat Puppets, Eyes Adrift, and Volcano material, it is no surprise that his solo album holds close resemblance to those bands. Snow opens with Golden Lies, which sets a perfect premise for the album with laid back acoustic guitar and steady drums accompanied with ethereal sounds that set the tone. An example of the interesting imagery used on the album is found on the title track, Snow, with the line It seems the sweetest things are hidden in the fire, just like snow settles on barbed wire, and we find our troubles no matter where we are, just like snow settles on barbed wire.

Afterward, Novoselic brought Curt up to his hotel room to lock down his parts, and that was it. It was pretty casual, says Kirkwood. The bands are similar that way - just learn the songs enough to not fuck ’em up. Really the coolest part was, if anybody from the rock scene is gonna sing that stuff, that would have been one of my choices. On March 8, the Meat Puppets will release Dusty Notes via Megaforce, their first album with the original lineup - brothers Curt and Cris Kirkwood plus drummer Derrick Bostrom - since the Unplugged era. The 10-song collection meanders along the Americana landscape on top of acoustic guitars, banjo and keys, exploring the high-desert psychedelia and gentle harmonies familiar to fans of early albums II and Up on the Sun. The Puppets never stray from their jammy folk and open-minded approach on their 15th studio album.

Beautiful Weapon Lyrics. Sometimes, clear as fire There is nothing out of sight Sometimes, only shadows Washed out pictures, cloudy nights.
