If nothing else, David Byrne deserves commendation for putting this out; Rough Trade's collapse the previous year left . Kane even more obscure than before, so having some major label pull didn't hurt! While just a compilation of various tracks from their Rough Trade career, Americana remains much better than nothing. However, both sixty-nine and "i" are far more complete and best heard as albums than the slightly scattershot arrangement of selected tracks here, which feels a bit odd as a result

Despite fairly limited commercial success-the group did score a surprise worldwide dance hit with 1987's "Pump Up the Volume" as part of the one-off collaborative project MARRS-they have been characterized as among the most innovative groups of their era. and released the 1995 album Life's Rising on Caroline Records. Tambala serves as head of new media for Ministry of Sound, and previously worked for Virgin Digital in non-musical roles.
