This is my Higgins mask from 1973. Mr Higgins was a remarkable, graseous man. My dad an I travelled from West Springfield, Mass in a snowstorm to his office in Norwood, Mass (about 90 miles). I had been knocked unconscious while wearig a poorly-made mask and y dadwas determined to keep me safe as best he could. His office had shelves lined with head molds of almost every NHL goalie. It was very impressive. About two weeks later, Mr. Higgins called to say my mask was ready. To our amazement, he offered to deliver it to my home. He explained that he would be in the area delivering a mask to a player for the AHL Springfield Indians. My parents invited him to join us for dinner and he accepted. During his visit, Mr. Higgins explaied that his real profession was making prosthetic limbs.
