Currently performing as Douglas J. McCarthy, his first solo album, Kill Your Friends, was released in November 2012 on Los Angeles-based label Pylon Records. McCarthy collaborated with Headman and producer Scott Fraser on the Noise EP, and with Cyrus Rex on the DJMREX E. .
Released in 2013, it led to a new musical partnership in the form of BLACK LINE. BLACK LINE is an experiment with a collaborative approach.

Complete your Douglas J. McCarthy collection. référencement Kill Your Friends, CD, Album, PYLON 27. I expected this album to be pretty similar to Nitzer Ebb, and was surprised. It's almost nothing like Nitzer Ebb, except that McCarthy sounds as excellent as always. And there is no bad song here. I'm a bit astonished at how many people I know that aren't aware of this album. It's McCarthy's first solo album and it's produced by Mark Bell. That's definitely in the wheelhouse of most of my friends, but nobody other than myself picked it up upon release. I'll chalk that up to what seems to be pretty lousy marketing on the part of Pylon. Now, that out of the way, y'all missed a great album. McCarthy sounds more human than he ever has on this.
