Row of Dominoes (Live at Liberty Lunch).
This is another great Joe Ely album. Joe is the rowdier, scrappier alter ego of Jimmie Dale Gilmore's zen beatnik cowboy, and his persona is fully intact here. LIVE AT LIBERTY LUNCH has the best version of "Me and Billy the Kid," and LOVE AND DANGER has the definitive version of "Settle For Love. ) To my ears, Joe was consistently excellent in the '90s. Don't miss it if you're an Ely fan, a Flatlanders fan, or just a fan of great roots music!
Live at Liberty Lunch 1990. labeljoe ely labellive at liberty lunch. Picked up this cassette tape back in the day and listened to it endlessly until I wore it out. Nice to hear it again this many years later. Joe is the man if you want to hear Texas rock and blues, full out or just Joe and his gitbox. Out. 10 months ago. And grissom's solo should be in the dictionary for 'how it's done'. Taste, tone, delivery.
Joe Ely - Row Of Dominoes - Live Version Lyrics. Carmen must have been the Devils daughter At least he taught her how to wear her clothes And the boys folled her to the slaughter Where they. Carmen must have been the Devils daughter At least he taught her how to wear her clothes And the boys folled her to the slaughter Where they fell like a row of dominoes They fell like a row of dominoes. Don't let your past drive you under You know how a memory comes and goes Well the years rolled away just like thunder Where they fell like a row of dominoes They fell like a row of dominoes.
I really like Joe Ely's album "Love and Danger. Based on that, what other Joe Ely album would you recommend. Live Shots would be a great intro to him, Live at Liberty Lunch is great too of course. People here are big on the David Grissom stuff (not that there's anything wrong with that!) but he's always had great musicians. I saw him a couple of times with the band on Live Shots and they were fantastic. Jesse Taylor on guitar, Lloyd Maines on pedal steel, Ponty Bone on accordion. Tough call, I'd break down and get them both. There are too many must have Joe Ely songs (not all written by him, but signature songs nonetheless) on both albums to just get one. stevieboy, Sep 5, 2016.
Dig All Night B-. Live at Liberty Lunch . Love and Danger B+. Letter to Laredo. Twistin' in the Wind. Joe Ely Ely hasn't yet learned how to disguise his rather thin timbre behind savvy phrasing, but as a result he projects an attractive openness-country singers (the men, anyway) rarely betray such innocent longing. Not that he's a country singer, exactly-this is real country-rock in a unique blend.
