Could have been an excellent compilation from Polygram AFTER acquiring the 20th C. masters. Problem isit's not very well thought out esp 4th side Love's Theme and Satin Soul are instrumental productions and do not belong on here.most of the tracks are 7"/Radio edits and don't do the recordings justice. Yet have a 5 min + mix of I've Got So Much To Give why???????Never Never Gonna Give Ya UpYou're The First The Last My EverythingLet The Music PlayPlaying Your Game BabyIt's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To MeJust The Way You Areall suffer from these vile edits LTMP with out the spoken build up intro and the middle monologue makes no sense "One Ticket Please" is not the start of this sad tale of broken love.with 5 tracks aside there was plenty of space for the full versions, and the missing single I Love To Sing The Songs I Sing pointless set as is The Collection also put out on Mercury. This also avoids royalty payments so has no Bronco-MustangUnlimited Gold, A&M (odd as Polygram now own) or BMG masters. The Collection cheekily used the A&M picture and did have 2 A&M tracks (Polygram owned A&M by then). The best retrospective has to be the one that Barry compiled and did himself Our Best To You on Unlimited Gold Inc. 2 sides of Barry tracks 1 of the Girls 1 of the Orchestra. Both the UK Greatest hits vol's 1 and 2 on 20th C (via Pye) are worth having esp volume 1 as all the tracks were exclusive remixes by Barry for the UK.This was just Polygram getting a return on their purchase. I am amazed that "the estate" did not secure the 20th C. masters and thus control what retro stuff was put out!
