Duffy's Cut is the name given to a stretch of railroad tracks about 30 miles west of Philadelphia, United States, originally built for the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad in the summer and fall of 1832. The line later became part of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Main Line. Railroad contractor Philip Duffy hired 57 Irish immigrants to lay this line through the area's densely wooded hills and ravines

Frank and Bill Watson, the historians who first located the remains of Irish railroad workers, many of whom are believed to have been murdered in 1832, say that the mass grave they have been seeking is unreachable. The Watsons believe what happened at Duffy's Cut was not an isolated case. Their next investigation involves another site ten miles away they believe is another Irish mass grave and two other sites have also been possibly located. The Judge was an ancient and powerful demon sent to wipe out the human race with his unique power of "burning the humanity out" of his victims. After being dismembered 600 years prior, Drusilla and Spike assembled him and brought him to life. The Judge was an ancient and legendary demon brought forth to this dimension in the 14th Century to rid Earth of the plague of humanity. He was aptly named The Judge for he had come to separate the righteous from the wicked, and burn the righteous down.
Being into railroad history and being 1/2 Irish was a big reason for my interest in reading about Duffy's Cut. The beginning of the book is a bit hard to get into (due to the referencing of multiple sources sited, etc. which requires you to flip to the notes section in the back of the book), but once you get the hang of the writing style it's a pretty quick and easy read. Very sad how these men were treated (and are still being treated today if you go online and read the recent developments to this story)
Legend of Duffy's Cut. Bob Phillips - Alfred Music Publishing. In 1832, 57 Irish immigrants working for the Pennsylvania railroad, died under mysterious circumstances and were buried in a mass grave. To this day, there are mysterious happenings and ghost sightings around the area of their deaths, now known as Duffy's Cut This music tells their story. The hopeful jig The Irish Crossing the Sea is soon followed by, The Railroad Begins, which musically depicts their hard work building the railroads that drove our country's expansion.
Watch Robert Downey Jr in the new trailer for The Judge. Audiences are discovering one of the year's best films.
Mike Duffy’s insistence on getting what he wants would impress even pop music’s biggest smallest diva, Ariana Grande. Which as we heard earlier this week, wasn’t really Gerald Donohoe’s and wasn’t really a media firm.
