Clairvoyant is the fourth album by American progressive metal band The Contortionist, released on 15 September 2017 through eOne Music and Good Fight Music. It has been described as somewhat of a departure from their previous sound, with little to no screamed vocals and can be considered less heavy than their previous albums. Clairvoyant is the closing of that thematic circle, but rooted more in raw emotion than metaphor. It's me doing my final farewell to the writing based around that whole scenario.

There is screaming on the album, but it’s very textured, so it’s not in your face and you have to really listen to pick out the spots

The band released their fourth album, entitled Clairvoyant, on 15th September 2017. This album featured a softer sound, with predominantly clean vocals. Given the timing, every track will be briefly covered in some form or fashion contrary to the usual process. Depth and beauty can be found between the sonic waves put forth in The Contortionist’s initial steps through the 50+ minute effort known is Clairvoyant. Thoughts of the legends – Pink Floyd perhaps – sprung to mind while listening to this opening track just before the album swept into the chords of Godspeed. This is where vocalist Michael Lessard steps into the fray, lending a soothing voice across the sweet instrumental current provided by the Baca brothers, Cameron Maynard, Jordan Eberhardt, and Eric Guenther.
